LAD #34 FDR's Declaration of War

"a date which will live in infamy" -FDR
After December 7th 1942, FDR addressed congress and asked for a declaration of war against the Axis. The country was scared, nothing like this had happened before so people did not know what to expect. FDR knew that joining the war as a unified nation would make the United States stronger. He also probably knew that it would help them to get out of the poor economic state that they were in. He said that the United States did not provoke Japan into this attack, but we must succeed in shutting them down and protecting ourselves, as well as other countries.
