LAD #15

The Gettysburg address followed the battle at Gettysburg. This was the turning point in the war essentially because this battle stopped the south from penetrating any farther north. Lincoln said in his short speech that the founding fathers, the men who signed the Declaration of Independence, deemed all "men are created equal". This meant black or white, so slavery was to be ended. He says that this great battlefield where so many American died will remain a cemetary for the fallen heroes and he says that they should not die in vain and that the United States needs to band together as a nation.
