LAD #16

Frederick Douglas is arguing in his speech made on the 5th of July that not all Americans are free. He feels that it is unjust for him to be celebrating his freedom when there are so many black people enslaved still in the south. Instead of celebrating Douglas mourns for the enslaved because he knows that there is a great deal of difference between him and the audience. He is obviously an abolitionist looking for rights for slaves.
